Shannon McMahon MAusIMM
Shannon grew up in the mining industry, working at one of the first tenement management agencies in WA. In 2003, Shannon established MMTS, which has since grown to be a leading land management agency in Australia.
With almost two decades of experience in mining land management, Shannon has considerable knowledge of the industry, and of mining legislation and policy. He provides advice on high-level land management strategy and all aspects of mining title compliance. Shannon has also served as an expert witness in matters before the Mining Warden in Western Australia.
Shannon is an avid champion of the mining industry. He is a councilor of AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies) and is the chair of AMEC’s Mining Legislation Committee. Shannon is persistent in protecting and promoting the interests of junior and mid-tier companies.
Shannon is a board member of the D’Arcy Slater Foundation, which aims to provide Australian youth with a means to realise their aspirations and potential in education, sport, music and the arts and to provide domestic training in all fields. Shannon is also a member of Redkite’s Western Australia Regional Council. MMTS is a proud supporter of Redkite, a charity providing essential support to children and young people with cancer.
Iva Morrell BA LLB (Distinction)
Iva holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia. Iva has worked in the mining industry for over 10 years, having worked as a mining lawyer before joining MMTS as a consultant in 2010.
Iva has experience dealing with a vast range of statutory compliance and land access issues relating to exploration and mining tenure. She has advised companies in relation to approvals processes affecting mining land applications and compliance with conditions following grant. Iva has managed the acquisition of projects (by application or transaction) and the preparation of projects for disposal to third parties. Iva has also previously served as a member of AMEC’s Aboriginal Affairs Committee.
Team Leader - Compliance
Helen worked as a paralegal in corporate law before joining MMTS as a consultant in 2013. Helen provides advice in relation to compliance with mining land legislation across all Australian jurisdictions. Helen also oversees the workflow of the consulting team and trains junior team members. Helen is also working towards a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).
Senior Tenement Consultant
Celeste has worked in the mining industry for almost 15 years, starting out in corporate services and moving to consulting at MMTS in 2007. She has built up considerable expertise in compliance matters. Celeste also oversees the integrity of MMTS’ large databases and is the resident expert in ground monitoring and tenement applications.
Senior Tenement Consultant
Andrew commenced work in the mining industry in 1991 when he joined the exploration team of mining company based in Meekatharra, WA. Andrew worked in various roles within that team for 8 years, before joining a mining services contractor and working as an underground driller in Southern Cross.
Andrew has also held various roles in both Perth and Melbourne as a logistics co-ordinator and manager for transport companies. Andrew joined MMTS in 2008. Andrew assists clients with all aspects of mining title compliance. Andrew also arranges inclusions of private property in mining titles.
Sara Winton BA LLB
Senior Tenement Consultant
Sara holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology Sydney. Sara has worked in commercial and property law in New South Wales before moving to Perth and joining MMTS as a consultant in 2013.
Sara undertakes the preparation and submission of Mining Rehabilitation Fund reports, extension of term applications and tenement reductions, facilitation and registration of caveats, mortgages and transfers as well as interstate compliance work. Sara also assists clients with Native Title matters including compliance relating to tenure within ILUA areas.
Stephanie Lee BA LLB
Stephanie was employed in the government sector before joining MMTS as a consultant in 2013. Stephanie consults internally to the management team at MMTS. She prepares submissions to various government bodies, undertakes historical land research and due diligence and project reviews for project acquisition and divestment.
Jessica worked as a paralegal in corporate law before joining MMTS as a consultant in 2018. Jessica assists clients with all aspects of mining title compliance.
Assistant Tenement Consultant
A former licensed conveyancer, Natalie joined MMTS to assist the consulting team with administrative tasks. A major component of Natalie’s role is the management of payment of rates to local government authorities on behalf of MMTS’ clients.
Administration and Accounting
Michelle Scarparolo BA BMedia&Comms
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Media and Communications from Edith Cowan University. Joining the MMTS team in 2015, Michelle brings over 16 years of experience in administration and most recently as a Corporate Administrator in the mining industry.
Michelle handles all aspects of reception, office administration and coordination of the administration team.
Rebecca is undertaking a Bachelor of Laws at Curtin University. She assists MMTS’ Office Manager with reception and office administration.
Janette Hartigan BSc
Janette holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Mathematics from Leicester University, U.K. She has 30 years’ experience in the field of accounting, across a diverse range of commercial, financial and operational activities. She has managed the MMTS accounts since joining in 2009.
Kaylene Shepherd BC
Kaylene holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting from Curtin University. Joining MMTS in 2017, Kaylene brings over 10 years’ experience working within the financial sectors of the Oil & Gas and Mining industries. Kaylene supports the accountant with all general accounting processes and monthly invoicing.
